my approach

When a child has an eating disorder, parents often tell me they want a roadmap to guide them through each step to recovery. I practice Family Based Treatment, or FBT, which is the gold-standard eating disorder treatment for adolescents and teens. Using this approach, I will guide you through each phase of treatment, establishing clear, weekly goals to help you stay on course. FBT is a high-demand, rare specialty, and even though it is challenging, it has the highest efficacy rate of any other pediatric eating disorder treatment. I use it because it works.

My approach is warm but directive, collaborative but results-oriented. Together, we will develop specific meal and snack goals, implement exposure therapy and food challenges, and help you build confidence as you meet your child’s medical and recovery milestones. I will support you through the most challenging parts of eating disorder treatment—the breakdowns at mealtime, the moments where you feel like you are failing, the moments where your child is stuck and scared. I will be your gut-check and help you see the big picture as we walk this road together. Recovery is a difficult and long process, but I will help you build a stable foundation until your child is able to take the reigns to do it for themself.
